The Good Food Box Program (GFB) is a food security initiative administered by the Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre since 2005. To raise funds in support of our GFB program operations, the Women’s Centre participates in fundraising efforts throughout the year.

We’re thrilled to be part of United Way’s brand-new BETTER is POSSIBLE 50/50 Raffle — and there’s a huge bonus this year! When you buy a ticket, you’re not only entered to win a growing 50/50 cash jackpot (previous prize payouts have reached nearly $10,000), but you’ll also be entered to win the Ultimate Calgary Stampede Getaway — a trip for 2 to the 2025 Calgary Stampede (July 11–13), including flights, hotel, and evening show tickets. Buy your tickets before the May 15th deadline!

Even better? When you purchase through our agency’s custom link, your ticket supports our organization directly. We’ll receive the net proceeds AND United Way will MATCH that amount, doubling the impact of your generous support.  Your ticket = your chance to win AND your chance to support the work we do every day in the community. Please don’t wait. Take action now and double your impact before the February 28 deadline.

WHY SUPPORT TO GOOD FOOD BOX PROGRAM

The current economic circumstances have resulted in an unprecedented increase in the use of emergency and food security programs in Thunder Bay and District. Many people in our community cannot afford to eat well or even regularly.  Food and operating costs for the organizations that address these gaps are also increasing beyond the available funding. You can read more about these issues in the two reports below from the Thunder Bay and District Health Unit:

Without immediate action, access to food may be reduced for those in our community who count on this critical support.

Thank You!

In addition to supporting the GFB Program, you are also supporting our hardworking local growers & producers. In 2024, the GFB spent $40,488.96 on locally grown and produced goods for our local fundraiser and food security boxes! Buying local supports our producers and strengthens the capacity of our local food system.
