In February, the Women and Gender Studies Student Association (WGSSA) hosted a Valentine’s Day candy-gram fundraiser on the main campus to benefit the Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre (NOWC). Through this initiative, they raised $76, with each candy-gram sold for $2, supporting the NOWC’s important work in the community.

The Women and Gender Studies Student Association (WGSSA) at Lakehead University is a welcoming, inclusive, and intersectional organization committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all students. WGSSA also focuses on promoting community outreach and supporting women and marginalized individuals in the Thunder Bay region. Their fundraising efforts benefit local organizations that offer essential services to these communities. This year, WGSSA has partnered with several community organizations, including the Faye Peterson House, Beendigan, and the Thunder Bay Clothing Assistance Centre.
