Tomorrow (Sept 16) is the official project launch of Honouring Our Stories and the announcement will take place at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery at 10:00 am.
Honouring Our Stories is coordinated by the Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre in partnership with @Community Story Strategies, @Thunder Bay Art Gallery, Thunder Bay Police Service with the goal to shift the public understanding of sexual violence. Participants will share their experiences through a series of art workshops led by local women artists and the creation of digital stories, facilitated by Community Story Strategies. The digital stories and artwork by women and police officers will form an interactive public exhibition focusing on the resiliency, dignity, and human rights of survivors. The community curation of this art will help reframe the public conversation on sexual violence and challenge victim-blaming.
Thank you so much to the @Ontario Arts Council – Conseil des arts de l’Ontario for supporting this project through their Creative Engagement Fund to Stop Sexual Violence and Harassment.
