Aria Kamal is Lakehead University’s winner of the Royal Society of Canada’s inaugural Justice Rosalie Silberman Abella Prize
“I hope that future generations of law students will continue to interrogate the role of socio-legal inequities within the law and strive to ameliorate discrepancies between equality in the books and equality in practice.”
Aria Kamal
As a Law student at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University, Aria chose our small (but mighty) community based, equality seeking women’s centre to do her placement as a Pro Bono Law student in 2019/20. Her well-developed feminist and intersectional analysis, and keen legal insight, was put to good use in assisting us with gender based violence case analyses and the documentation of complicated family law cases.
