This webinar aims to help community workers better understand the difficulties LGBTQI+ people face in making refugee claims and what they can do to support them. The webinar will explore:
- the challenges LGBTQI+ refugee claimants have in gathering convincing evidence to support their claims
- the specific difficulties they face in the refugee hearing process
- how their experiences before and after they move to Canada affect their mental health
- the injustices they may experience in Canada
- how important community support is for their mental health and safety
- resources, programs, and services available to them
