An exhibition of seven community-engaged art projects led by Artist Betty Carpick.

On View: Jan. 19-30, 2024

Location: Co.Lab Gallery inside Goods & Co. (formerly Eaton’s)

Opening Reception: Friday, January 19th, 7-9pm

Betty Carpick was one of the artist facilitators who led artmaking during our OAC-funded Art of Resistance Conference back in January of 2019. The Art of Resistance was a regional weekend gathering by and for women survivors of sexual violence that built on the recent success of Honouring Our Stories, our two-year community arts project that centered the dignity of women survivors of sexual violence.

During the Art of Resistance, Betty conceptualized and led a collaborative, site specific arts-project, LEVERAGING, to help voices of the gathering represent their personal past, present, and future through markings with inks and threads. LEVERAGING is one of the seven community-engaged artworks on view as part of Hand to Hand, so you can visit (or revisit!) the collaborative piece at Co.Lab Gallery in Goods & Co. from January 19-30th.

Be sure to check out Betty’s PEACE WORK community drop-ins as well–no experience necessary!
