from www.internationalwomensday.com:

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Learn more about IWD’s history here. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific.

Let’s Celebrate!

There are countless ways to commemorate and celebrate IWD. Click on the purple text in our 2023 PSA for some suggestions of things to do, see, read, and hear–on your own or with others! If you’re in Thunder Bay, join us this morning for the Flag Raising Ceremony and reading of the proclamation, and head to the Women’s March & Celebration later in the day!
