At the Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre, we believe survivors of sexual violence.
May is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and we are continuing our Sexual Violence Education series this spring with two upcoming workshops. Sessions are open to self-identified women and girls (ages 18+) and will take place from 6:30-8 pm at the Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre (278 Bay St, Suite #201).

Join us on Thursday, May 28th for our next sexual violence education session: “SV Kit Procedural: What to Know”, facilitated by Brittney Butler, Team Lead at the Sexual Assault/ Domestic Violence Treatment Centre at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. This is an in-person educational workshop on demystifying sexual assault evidence kits, the process around completing one, and the choices available to survivors moving forward.
We hope this workshop will provide individuals with knowledge about sexual assault evidence kits and navigating the different systems around forensic evidence collection from a survivor-focused lens. We also hope to illuminate some of the barriers and advocacy work that is still ongoing in this space.
Attendance at all sessions is not required. Light refreshments provided. To register, please contact Caro at [email protected] or (807) 935-8042.
Accessibility: Please note that there is a lip to the front entrance of the building followed by a set of stairs to the second floor. There are no automatic door openers. Washrooms are private and all-gender. Bus tickets are available by request. Please reach out to the email above for any questions or to make an accessibility request.
